Welcome to Dr. Liu’s Website

Dr. Shin Liu was elected to the Cerritos Community College District Governing Board in 2009 and has served as board secretary and vice president in her trustee role.  She represents District area 5, encompassing Cerritos, Artesia, segments of Lakewood, Norwalk, and Santa Fe Springs.

Dr. Liu holds a Doctorate in Computer Information Systems from Argosy University, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Texas, and an undergraduate degree from National University of Education in Taiwan.

She is a tenured professor of Computer Science at Rio Hondo College, with extensive field expertise as a Microsoft Certified Software Engineer, Cisco Certified Network Engineer, and Blackboard Certified Trainer.

On the forefront of instructional technology and academic excellence, Dr. Liu has brought remote learning labs to community college students, participated with student teams at the yearly Imagine Cup competition for software development, and provides annual mentorship at the Boeing Youth Science Camp.  For her service, she has received the Innovation in Technology award, Woman in Power award, and Teacher of the Year recognition, among other accolades.

As a Cerritos College Trustee, Dr. Liu has:

  •  Provided sound fiscal oversight during budgetary challenges, ensuring that Cerritos College students maintained critical resources and effective pathways
  •  Advocated for the securing of Measure GG bond to enhance Cerritos College’s technological capacity and facilities infrastructure
  •  Worked with local media, including TV 18.2 and 18.8, to represent and promote Cerritos College throughout the community and beyond
  • Established key partnerships with four-year institutions, including San Diego State and UCLA, leading to educational collaborations and community events

A long-time area resident, Dr. Shin Liu has three grown children and lives in Cerritos with her husband, Benson Tung.
